2012-02-04 Inquest Opens on Young Evie |
An inquest has opened into the death of a three year old girl. Evie Middleton from Kippax was discovered hanging from a curtain pole in her home last Friday. A provisional post mortem report said cause of death was asphyxia due to strangulation. An interim death certificate has been issued to allow the family to make funeral arrangements.

A rare bean goose from Northern Russia has been spotted at Fairburn Ings nature reserve. The goose is uncommon to this area but occasionally seen in Norfolk and Scotland |

2012-02-02 Fishy Activity at Polo Pond |
Thousands of fish have been removed from polo Pond in Kippax by Leeds and District Anglers and released in the Aire and Calder canal at Woodlesford and in Sandwath Lake at Church Fenton. The operation, overseen by the Environment Agency, was carried out because Polo Pond had become overstocked.

2012-02-01 Three Year Old in Window Blind Tragedy |
A three year old girl has died following an incident involving a window blind cord. Three year old Evie Middleton was found collapsed at home in Willow Grove Kippax on Friday afternoon. Police paramedics and an ambulance were called and the girl was taken to Pinderfields Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Brigshaw School has received a very favourable Ofsted report with many Outstanding and Good gradings. 2012-01-27 Kippax Man Trapped by Collapsing Wall |
A 62 year old man was trapped when a wall he was demolishing collapsed and pinned him down in Manor Garth Road, Kippax, shortly after 3pm yesterday. Fire fighters were called and rescued the man who was then taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Childrens Services team ran a CV writing session for parents and carers at the Brigshaw Co-operative Trust building in Vicars’ Court (the Old School in Allerton Bywater) recently. Simon Lonsdale of Job Centre Plus worked with everyone to create outstanding CVs that will capture the attention and interest of future employers

Kippax has earned a place in the final of the Royal Horticultural Society Britain in Bloom competition and will be competing against six other areas in the Urban Community category. The result will be announced at a special awards ceremony in Guernsey in October
