| | 2010-07-22 It’s a Rubbish Collection Service | Residents of Emley View, Kippax are complaining to the council that their brown bins, containing garden rubbish have not been collected for 5 weeks despite repeated calls and promises that they would be.
| | 2010-07-21 Agency Finally Act to Stop Brecks Smells | The Environment Agency is to take long overdue firm action at Brecks Farm, ordering the introduction of a covering for the slurry pond to significantly reduce the odour blighting the lives of local residents. Kippax councillors had complained about Environment Agency officers failing to resolve the problem despite visiting the farm over fifty times.
| | 2010-07-18 Callum Signs for Liverpool | Fourteen year old centre forward Callum Pilkington from Kippax has signed for Liverpool FC and has also been selected to go on an England training camp. The Brigshaw youngster, who was a junior with Bradford City when spotted by Liverpool, is an ardent Leeds United fan.
| | 2010-07-17 Kippax Poet in Concert | The poems of Jean Gittens from Kippax have been set to music and will be performed by Leeds choir Free Range at a fundraising concert at the Shine Centre on Harehills Road in aid of refugees and asylum seekers. Jean’s poems describe the struggles of local mining communities during the miner’s strike.
| | 2010-07-11 Tennis Balls Wanted at the Ings | Staff at Fairburn Ings Nature Reserve are asking the public for old tennis balls that can be cut up to serve as nests for harvest mice. Field mice numbers have fallen in recent years and nests in converted tennis balls are a proven success.
| | 2010-07-10 Kippax Church Launches Family Fun | St Mary’s Kippax has launched the Messy Church Initiative, a monthly activity session to encourage more families to think about faith. The Saturday morning sessions last about 90 minutes and end with all families dining together.
| | 2010-07-06 Council Fund Summer Cricket Coaching Again | Leeds City Council has awarded 5,000 pounds towards cricket coaching by Yorkshire County Cricket Club for 9 to 15 year olds, to be delivered at 3 venues over 3 weeks during the summer. One of these venues will be Kippax Welfare Club from 2nd to 6th of August. In 2009 around 1500 youngsters received coaching from this programme. Due to demand and the subsequent need to provide additional coaches, a charge of 50 pence a day will be made to participants
